British TV Nostalgia

There are many many websites around that cater for those amongst us with a sudden yearning for Television programmes of yesteryear. Were they better? Hard to say, but they can often be a source of comfort in a very complicated world. We know this to be true. Here are a few to get you started:

Whirligig

Whirligig - Without doubt the BEST site on the net for TV nostalgia of the 1950s! Includes Crackerjack, Woodentops, Watch With Mother etc.

ON THE BUSES - FAN CLUB

Just about everything you ever wanted to know about 'On The Buses' with Reg Varney and crew. An absorbing site that will take you back to a time when comedy was probably at its best!

ON THE AIR MAGAZINE - TV NOSTALGIA

Beautifully produced magazine - bi-monthly. Weighty 64 page, full colour format, this magazine covers everything including celebrity interviews, heritage, travel and so much more!  With regular features on top British TV shows – from Coronation St to Last of the Summer Wine , On The Air also offers unrivalled coverage of your British TV favourites!

CULT TV

Cult TV - Annual festival of all that is good AND bad in television, or at least the bits we remember most!

Sausage Net

SausageNet - more TV nostalgia information.

Over 1,700 cult TV shows from the UK and US, with theme tunes, images of popular shows and descriptions of programmes from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s

To be honest, 'Sub TV' is a somewhat quirky site, but I guess SOMEONE has to look after interludes and old logos. It does capture your attention anyway. Try this, theme tunes to the 'Schools' interludes on BBC, Channel 4 etc. Amazing how they get right into your subconcious!

Sterling Times - The online scrap book of nostalgic Television - oh yes, you'll also find a real audio clip of 'Vision On' too!

The Goodies (BBC)

What can we say about the Goodies? Ah, happy days....

Kids TV is dedicated to reminding you how old you are by listing some classic children's programmes from years gone by.

Smallfilms - Oliver Postgate. Oh how we loved these, Noggin The Nog, Pogles Wood, The Clangers and good old Bagpus....Ah, happy days indeed.

Michael Lynn's 'Jigsaw Fan Site' - Only current source on this 70s/80s series starring Janet Ellis and Adrian Hedley. Seems a few defected from Vision On or else Clive Doig took them with him. Anyway Wilf Lunn & Sylvester McCoy ended up on there. Mentions the 'Prof' too!

One Poster - Source for posters of characters and personalities from TV & Film. Limited range, but some good ones.

WATCHED IT

Nice colourful site with a cool ident for TV fans everywhere. Well worth a look. Links to all manner of things.

Memorable Television - Good selection of TV shows from the 50s, 60s & 70s

Nice collection of TV programmes from past & present both here and in the US.

THE Mausolemu Club - Brilliant forum for anyone looking for old TV programmes.
