"VISION ON" GUESTBOOK

The Prof is having a quiet snooze right now after chasing a wardrobe around a field. You could try tapping on your monitor to try and wake him up. Alternatively, if you feel suitably touched by nostalgia (or you're just plain touched like the rest of us) and would like to say hello to The Prof or any of the original 'Vision On' team - heres your chance! | Hi, just a quick note, few delays still on video release - copyright issues which has held us up. Pity cos the rushes were really good! We'll release it as soon as we can OK? Apologies...

| Mystery solved. The music you mean is 'Gurney Slade' by Max Harris. OK?

| Hello
Love the site, its about time Vision On was celebrated with its own site. The music and images evoke a satisifying feeling of nostalgia and the programme had me hooked on to art.
What is the piece of music that was used in the programme with a flute and metronome tick tock feel to it, I am desperate to know!!!! It was used on a commercial for HSBC with Bob Mortimer, can anyone enlighten me!!!!
Signing off for now,
Dave.

| Chanced on this site by accident. So that was his name, "the Prof". I always referred to him as "that speeded up wee man in the white lab coat". It's certainly true, the Prof films were definitely an influence on The Goodies. Speeded up film was a popular comic device in the 60s and 70s, not just with the Prof and the Goodies but also Marty Feldman and its greatest exponent, Benny Hill (though I think the directors of children's television might have had something to say if the Prof had been shown chasing semi-nude girls) and even the Double Deckers. With respect though, as a small kid I was a bit frightened of the Prof and most things that had speeded up film. I worked out that it's connected to my arachnophobia. When a spider moves it gives me the shivers and that's becuase of the fast jerky movement. The Prof, the Goodies, Marty Feldman and Benny Hill all move in a fast jerky way. For the same reason I was terrified of Ray Harryhausen monster movies. I quite liked the Puppet Prof though. I remember one of his films when he blows up a balloon, draws a face on it and the face starts going on at him in a Pinky & Perky voice. Puppet Prof settles the matter by popping the balloon. Interested also to see that the cartoon workman was called Digger. I can also remember the cut out pictures of the wee lass and the tortoise on Vision On. It certainly was something different and it made its mark on history as the launchpad for Aardman Animations (Aardman was the superhero character who appeared from time to time wasn't he?)

| One of the finest TV progs ever put out at BBC Bristol. Gave kids so much to think about too. Didn't insult their intelligence and had a great variety of surreal images to get them thinking. Missed terribly and should never have been plucked. Has made my day to see Prof again. These films were so clever - lot of work involved. Thanks - enjoyed the site tremendously.

| Yes yes yes all right then, I see the little note about no more video clips on the site. I was wondering how many you'd let us see for free!!! No bother - I have been ordered by my 5-year-old daughter to buy the video as soon as I can, so I will quite happily. BTW I was rummaging in my potting shed the other day, and apart from a few Dead Sea Scrolls, bits of pianola roll and a harpoon, I found two Jigsaw stickers!!! Still with the adhesive intact...ah, good old BBC. Perhaps I too was trying at a very early age to impress the delicious Janet Ellis, though I'm afraid her daughter has inherited the coronet of scrumptiousness now...heigh ho. Do I really remember them playing Django Reinhardt's "Tea for Two" as background music on Jigsaw in 1982??? Probably not...
