| I'm still trying to find out the name/composer of the music used in The Prof sequences. Does anyone have any idea? Did the BBC choose the music, or CAW? Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks. |

Strangely enough I did ask Dave that very question. Sadly he doesn't know anymore than mad Laurie knows the name of the Digger theme. Most come from a series of LPs called 'Mood Music'. I did have a contact in BBC archives - leave it with me and I'll see what I can come up with. Might take a while though...... :)
Its good to see this forum getting the use I hoped it would by the way!

Laurie? Mad? Surely not.....
Anywayawayaway.... I've been doing some digging (ha ha, Digging - geddit Laurie? .....I'll get me'coat). One of the pieces is called Comedy Cocktails 7 (CHAP 200 13), composed by P Gerard. It's on the Chappell label, but not commercially available, as far as I know.
I think this piece was also used for that 70's comic celebrity quiz show "Jokers' Wild," sometimes repeated on Granada Plus.
I'm still trying to find out the piece that was used on the Alarm Clock sequence, but if I find it, I'll post it here.... Watch this space, well, not this one, but the one a couple of sentences ago....
Right, back to the lab......
Simon.

It's me again...
Good news and bad.
Good news: I've found the music to the Alarm Clock sequence.
Bad news: Unfortunately, it's not commercially available.
The piece is "Comedy Cocktail a" by P. Gerard (CHAP 148 1) on the Chappell label.
My company has authorised access to the libraries, which is how I found the pieces, so I'll make some enquiries, when I get chance, as to whether we could (and if viable) sell a CD, exclusively through this site.
Watch that other space again, you know, the one over there...
Simon. |

Ralph,
That's great if you have some tracks already. Can you e-mail the details ofthem to me and I'll get cracking on tracking down the recording details, as I will need the permission from the copyright owner of the sound recording, as well as the MCPS licensing.
I already have the Cult Fiction CD with 'The Chase' and 'Leftbank' on it, so I have those recording details. What sort of number run would we be looking at?
Regards, Simon.

Emailed you as requested. If we can keep going on this we can probably put a really nice CD together. What we REALLY need is a full list of ALL music used in Vision On........

something else? how can you leave us in suspense like that?? Incidentally if you like jazzy stuff (and not sure if you were able to see the Peter Sellers documentary out there in Canada) but do listen to Andy Shepherd.
I was totally staggered by the soundtrack (recently obtained a copy of it from Austria of all places) and got to see him and Steve Lodder here in Coventry around a year ago. Was totally aghast when he held a note on sax for a full five minutes. "how the hell is he doing that??" I asked. My girlfriend lent across and whispered "he's got a compressor up his ass". What can you say.....

| I have to find it again before I tell you what the "something else" is. I'll keep an eye out for Andy Shepherd. Thanks. Incidentally, I heard a great song today. It was the theme to Super Mario Brothers performed by the London Symphony Orchestra. It was great. |

I am pretty sure I've identified one piece of music. Its the one that sounds like a circus act. It was also used as the theme music to the Brit show (don't confuse with the American one) 'Jokers Wild' (Arthur Askey. Barry Cryer etc). As yet have no title but that should point you in right direction. Post here if anyone knows its name!

The 'Joker's Wild' theme (used on The Prof) is part of P Gerard's Comedy Cocktails suite. It's licensing is managed by Chappel, I think.
Regards, Simon.
